Lake Country, BC – Delivering on the vision for a safer, smoother, more active‑transportation‑friendly roadway in Carr’s Landing

Improvements are starting to approximately 800 metres of Commonage Road, from the southern Carr’s Landing Road intersection to the O’Rourke Family Vineyard access. The project will convert the existing gravel surface into a paved collector‑standard roadway and includes a paved shoulder to support safer walking and cycling.

Key upgrades include improved sightlines at the Carr’s Landing/Commonage intersection, smoother grades and road alignment, drainage enhancements, and utility relocations required for road widening. These improvements are aligned with the District's future plans and capital road design intentions for Carr's Landing and Commonage corridors.

The project, funded by development, enhances safety for all users, supports active transportation, and improves access to nearby residential, agricultural, and tourism destinations.

Construction‑related traffic impacts will be shared as work progresses. Phase 1 of this project is scheduled for a March 25 – May 15, 2026 timeframe which includes a full road closure on Commonage Road starting Friday, March 27. Driveway access will be accommodated for impacted residents. This closure will help expediate the road improvements and minimize the construction time frame. Construction and detour signage will be posted.
