Regular Council Meeting Highlights - September 15th, 2020
Council approved the Development Variance Permit which will allow the applicant at 17262 Coral Beach Road to vary the shape of the dock to a “U” shaped configuration. The applicant did speak to Council about the application in addition to one community member who relayed concerns about safety in the area.
A request to issue a Development Permit at 11418 Okanagan Centre Road was approved by Council. The current waterfront home will be relocated and replaced with a single-family home and attached garage.
Council adopted the 2020 Agriculture Plan.
Sergeant Jon Collins, New Commanding Officer of Lake Country RCMP detachment introduced himself to Council and presented a full report on what has been happening in Lake Country along with detachment priorities moving forward.
Okanagan Centre Drainage Study
The Okanagan Centre stormwater drainage system is not performing to the required standard and is causing reoccurring issues during heavy storms. Council approved spending of $50,000 taken from the Road Reserve fund, to conduct a study that will analyze the system and identify areas for improvement.
Enforcement of Development Permit Violations
Council carried the bylaw amendment that allows for Development Permit infractions to be ticketed.
Council agreed that due to the impacts of COVID-19 both non-profit and commercial renters of Creekside Theatre will be charged the non-profit theatre rental fee. The reduced pricing will be readjusted once the theatre is back to operating at full capacity.
