Lake Country Community Centre

The District of Lake Country is moving ahead with Phase 1 of the Lake Country Community Centre, with the construction contract now officially signed.

Phase 1 of Lake Country Community Centre

Phase 1 focuses on the adaptive reuse of an existing building to create much-needed recreation, fitness, and community gathering space for Lake Country residents. The project will transform approximately 27,000 square feet of former industrial space into a flexible, multi-use community facility that supports physical activity, programming, events, and social connection.

Phase 1 Floor Plan of the new Lake Country Community Centre.

This conceptual floor plan highlights the spaces included in Phase 1 of the Lake Country Community Centre, including a gymnasium, flexible fitness area, indoor turf field, multi-purpose program room, community gathering space, and supporting amenities. The design provides flexible recreation and community spaces while supporting the District's long-term vision for a comprehensive community hub.

Once complete, Phase 1 will include:

  • A gymnasium and flexible fitness space
  • An indoor artificial turf field
  • A multi-purpose program room
  • A community gathering and event space
  • Washroom and changeroom facilities
  • Supporting storage, janitorial, mechanical/electrical, and circulation spaces

These spaces will support inclusive recreation opportunities, youth and seniors programming, organized and informal physical activity, and community events.

As Lake Country continues to grow, so does the need for indoor recreation and community gathering space. Phase 1 provides immediate community benefit while supporting the District's long-term vision to redevelop the full 74,900-square-foot facility into a comprehensive, multi-use community hub. By reusing an existing structure, the District can reduce environmental impacts, make efficient use of public investment, and accelerate the delivery of new community amenities.

Construction is now underway, marking a significant milestone in the delivery of this important community project. Work began in spring 2026 and the District will continue to share updates as the project progresses toward completion.
