LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. – A section of Old Mission Road has a new paved surface following coordinated work between the District of Lake Country and Cantiro, the developer of the Owl’s Nest project.
As part of off-site improvements associated with Owl’s Nest, Cantiro was completing watermain installation, drainage system renewal and road work in the area. With the contractor and equipment already on site, the District took the opportunity to complete a full asphalt surface replacement along Old Mission Road to Irvine Road, near the intersection with Pelmewash Parkway, rather than undertake the work as a separate project at a later date.

Early estimates put the District’s cost for the additional paving at approximately $100,000 – about 50 per cent less than the estimated $200,000 it would have cost to complete the work as a standalone project. Coordinating the work also avoided the need for another round of construction and disruption in the area.
“Old Mission Road was an area where we knew additional paving would be needed,” said Scott Unser, Public Works Manager. “By coordinating the work with Cantiro, we were able to complete the paving at a lower cost, improve the driving surface and avoid bringing crews back for another construction project in the future.”
The additional paving was completed by Cantiro’s contractor alongside the watermain installation and drainage system renewal.
