LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. – The District of Lake Country is reporting 709 ballots cast during the first day of advance voting for the 2026 General Local Election.
There are approximately 14,083 eligible voters in Lake Country for this year's election.
In the 2022 municipal election, voter turnout on Advance Voting Day 1 was 342 and the total voter turnout was 15.8 per cent, with 2,020 of 12,767 eligible voters casting a ballot.
Residents who have not yet voted still have several options to cast their ballot:
- Advance Voting: Tuesday, October 13, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Lake Country Municipal Hall (10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road).
- General Voting Day: Saturday, October 17, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at George Elliot Secondary School (10241 Bottom Wood Lake Rd).
- Mail Ballot Voting: Eligible voters can apply to vote by mail until 4 p.m. on Thursday, October 15. Completed mail ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 17.
Lake Country voters can cast ballots for Mayor, two Councillors at Large, one Ward Councillor representing their neighbourhood and a School Trustee.
Voters must bring two pieces of identification. At least one must include their signature, and at least one must show their Lake Country address. Photo ID is not required.
