An election by voting is to be held to elect:

  • One (1) Mayor
  • Two (2) Councillors at Large 
  • One (1) Councillor for the Carr’s Landing neighbourhood constituency 
  • One (1) Councillor for the Okanagan Centre neighbourhood constituency 
  • One (1) Councillor for the Oyama neighbourhood constituency 
  • One (1) Councillor for the Winfield neighbourhood constituency
  • One (1) School Trustee for Electoral Area Zone 1 of School District No. 23 

Each elector may vote for one (1) Mayor, up to two (2) Councillors at Large, and one (1) Councillor to represent the neighbourhood constituency in which they reside. The persons nominated as candidates and for whom the votes will be received are:

Advance Voting Days 

Advance Voting Opportunities for the 2026 election will be available to qualified electors of the District of Lake Country as follows:

Dates:                       Wednesday October 7, 2026, and Tuesday October 13, 2026

Time:                         8:00 am to 8:00 pm

Location:                  District of Lake Country Municipal Hall, 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road, Lake Country, BC

Elector Registration 

There is no need to pre-register. All electors register at the time of voting by providing two (2) pieces of ID and signing a declaration that you meet the qualifications. At least one piece of ID must have a signature. Picture ID is not required. Your ID must prove both residency and identity. Documents accepted as ID include: 

  • Driver’s Licence
  • BC services card
  • BC Care Card 
  • ICBC Vehicle Owner’s Certificate and Insurance 
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN) card
  • Citizenship card
  • Property tax notice
  • Credit card or debit card
  • Utility bill (electricity, natural gas, water, phone, internet etc.)

 

Elector Qualifications 

To vote as a RESIDENT elector you must: 

  • be 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day;
  • be a Canadian citizen;
  • have lived in BC at least 6 months immediately before the day of voting;
  • be a resident of the District of Lake Country or the neighbourhood constituency (ward) on the day of voting; and
  • not be disqualified by law or any enactment from voting in an election. 

To vote as a NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTOR (NRPE) you must: 

  • not be entitled to register as a resident elector;
  • be 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day;
  • be a Canadian citizen;
  • have lived in British Columbia at least 6 months immediately before the day of voting;
  • be the registered owner of the real property at least 30 days before the day of voting; 
  • not be disqualified by law or any enactment from voting in an election; 

NRPE

Only one (1) individual is entitled to vote as a NRPE. Written consent must be provided by a majority of all owners on title, including the person voting. Any property that has a corporation on title is not eligible as a NRPE. It is recommended NRPE’s register in advance by contacting the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer at [email protected] by providing acceptable identification, proof of ownership and written consent from a majority of the owners stating you are designated as the Elector for the property.
