Garbage & Recycling

All garbage, recycling and yard waste is collected on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on your location. Check the collection schedule to find out which day is your collection day.

Recycling and yard waste are picked up on alternate weeks. Recycling is collected year-round; yard waste is collected March 1 through December. We recommend downloading the Recycle Coach app for garbage and yard waste scheduling information and where to dispose of different types of material. The Recycle BC app provides scheduling information and tips about what belongs in your cart and boxes.

• Place carts out by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Please do not place your carts out before your collection day to reduce conflicts with wildlife.
• Park It! Place your carts on the street, with the wheels against the curb, if there is one, or just off the roadway on the shoulder. Do not place carts or boxes in bike lanes or block sidewalks. Carts must not be an obstacle for cyclists (read the RDCO Cart Placement Information). 
• Point It! The arrow on the cart lid must point to the centre of the road.
• Space It! Leave 1m (3ft) of space between each cart and box as well as any obstacles to allow for truck access.

The Small Appliance Recycling Program accepts all these and more. Visit their website for all the details. The nearest depot to Lake Country is the Columbia Bottle Depot at 680 Dease Road, 250-763-2554.
