- Lake Country’s Official Community Plan is being updated with a public survey open until Sept 30. Let's Grow Lake Country Together | Let's Talk - Lake Country!
- Council members and some staff will be participating in the annual Union of BC Municipalities convention in Victoria next week; and are taking advantage of the opportunity to raise the priority interests and needs of our community at meetings scheduled with ministers and portfolio leaders. Watch for a report on the highlights later this month.
- We’d like to thank Ron Buss for the generous donation of his time and expertise in serving on the Water Service Advisory Committee for the past 15 years.
- If you are a Lake Country resident with demonstrated community interest and concern relative to environmental issues, we invite you to volunteer to serve on the Water Service Advisory Committee. Volunteer committee members provide advice to Council on a wide range of policy topics related to water infrastructure planning, water conservation, annual water budget requests, and watershed protection. Anyone interested in participating on the WSAC can find out more on the District website and email admin@lakecountry.bc.ca outlining their interest.
Planning and Development Applications:
Development Variance Permit | DVP00420 | 11487 Darlene Rd
Council approved the Development Variance Permit application for the property at 11487 Darlene Road, to vary the permitted yard setbacks and agricultural setback for development.
Zoning Amendment | Z0000338 | 9971 Okanagan Centre Road East
Council gave first reading to the rezoning application from RR2-Rural Residential to C1-Town Centre Commercial to support future Commercial and Residential development. Council has requested additional information on traffic impacts to the area.
Development Permit Application | DP001076| 15595 Commonage Rd
Council authorized a development permit for components of the existing winery including event spaces, amphitheater and gate house.
Departmental Reports:
Regional Transportation Service
Council did not support participating in a Regional Transportation Service administered by the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO). Staff were directed to continue to collaborate with the City of Kelowna to transportation services for the community.
Bylaws for Adoption and Readings Following a Public Hearing:
Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1292, 2025 |Z0000346 | 380 Bubna Rd
Council gave third reading to the zoning amendment bylaw. Prior to adoption a covenant will be drafted by staff to address the wildlife corridor.
Official Community Plan Amendment | OCP000063 | Housing Needs Policy
Council directed staff to incorporate edits into the policy prior to Council consideration for adoption.
Bylaw to amend Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1265, 2025 | Z0000335 | 14198 Middle Bench Rd
Council adopted the zoning amendment bylaw.
Council adopted the Official Community Plan Zoning Bylaw Amendments however directed staff to work with the applicant to develop a Comprehensive Development Zone to accommodate the specific needs of the area and for Council to consider at a future meeting,
