Grant Application | UBCM CEPF | Emergency Support Services Training and Equipment
Council supported a regional grant application for up to $30,000 to improve emergency response services in the Central Okanagan. The funding would help buy equipment and technology, train volunteers, and strengthen volunteer recruitment and retention. If approved, the Regional District of Central Okanagan would manage the grant on behalf of Lake Country.
Project Update
For information only, Council heard an update from staff on major District projects and finances. Highlights included significant progress on fire department technology upgrades, new emergency response equipment, FireSmart programs, wildfire risk reduction work, parks and recreation projects, and emergency management training.
The report also noted that the District is in a strong financial position, with higher-than-expected development-related revenues, declining debt levels, strong investment returns, and cost savings from a new in-house construction and paving crew.
Bylaws for Adoption and Readings Following a Public Hearing
Zoning Amendment Bylaw 1301, 2025 |Z0000338| 9971 Okanagan Centre Rd E
Council approved a zoning bylaw amendment for 9971 Okanagan Centre Road East, changing the property from Rural Residential to Town Centre Commercial zoning. This supports plans for a future development that would include both commercial and residential uses.
