Nomination packages are now available for residents interested in running for office in the District of Lake Country's 2026 Local Government Election.
Packages can be downloaded from www.lakecountry.bc.ca/elections or picked up at Municipal Hall, 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road, during regular business hours.
To be eligible to run for office, candidates must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old on General Election Day (October 17, 2026), have lived in British Columbia for at least six months prior to nomination day, and not be disqualified from holding elected office. Candidates do not need to live in the jurisdiction where they are seeking election.
The District is offering two optional candidate information sessions to help prospective candidates learn more about serving on Council, the election process, and candidate expectations:
- August 12, 2026, at 6 p.m. (in person at Municipal Hall)
- August 19, 2026, at 6 p.m. (via Microsoft Teams)

Nomination papers may be filed between 9 a.m. on September 1 and 4 p.m. on September 11, 2026. Candidates are encouraged to schedule an appointment with the Chief Election Officer to review their nomination package prior to submission by emailing [email protected].
