We acknowledge that, as a district municipality, we are conducting our business on the unceded territory of squilx”/syilx (Okanagan) peoples. As a Council, we recognize the importance of doing our best to build respectful relationships that contribute to stewarding the land and waters in the community with integrity and consideration for future generations.

The District of Lake Country was incorporated in May 1995, but our history goes back to the late 1800's. Learn more about Lake Country's four wards: Carr's Landing, Okanagan Centre, Oyama and Winfield.

Watch and listen as Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB) Elder Eric Mitchell shares his knowledge of the area around Wood Lake in Lake Country where three new Indigenous Sculptures have recently been installed along Pelmewash Parkway.

The Lake Country Museum & Archives collects, keeps and presents to the public: artifacts, manuscripts and photographs about the history of Lake Country.

The Lake Country Museum is open year round, including holiday Mondays.

Fall/Winter: September to May hours are: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 1:00pm -4:00 pm.

Spring/Summer: May to September will now be: Open 7 days a week 10:00am – 4:00pm.

Visit the Lake Country Museum and Archives website for more information.
