Lake Country's neighbourhoods
We are home to four distinct neighbourhood communities:
- Carr's Landing
- Okanagan Centre
- Oyama
- Winfield
Ward system
We are the only municipality in the province of BC to use the ward system. One council member is elected from each of the neighbourhood wards and eligible voters elect the mayor and two council members at large.
Our history
Incorporated on May 2, 1995, our community between Kelowna and Vernon has grown over the last twenty-two years. We embrace change while respecting our agricultural roots and characteristics that make Lake Country so desirable. In 2016, our community received the Small Business Roundtable's Open for Business award in recognition of efforts to foster economic growth.
Lake Country was BC's fastest growing municipality in 2014 and 2021 according to Canadian Census data. Lake Country grew 22% since 2016.
