Lake Country, BC – Lake Country Council has adopted new zoning for the Lake Country Business Park, marking a significant milestone in the long-term development of the approximately 200-acre area formerly known as the Glenmore Industrial Lands.

The new zoning creates a framework for a mix of commercial, industrial and residential uses within the Business Park. With that framework now in place, individual property owners can choose to pursue development that aligns with the Lake Country Business Park Area Structure Plan.

For Lake Country, the Business Park represents an opportunity to expand the community’s commercial and industrial land base, create more local employment opportunities and diversify the District’s tax base. As development occurs over time, it will also contribute funding toward the infrastructure needed to support growth.

“This is really about planning for Lake Country’s future and making sure growth benefits the whole community,” said Mayor Blair Ireland. “Council made this a priority, and we’re excited to finally see it taking shape. The Business Park will bring new businesses and jobs, strengthen and diversify our tax base, and help us invest in the infrastructure we’ll need as our community grows. It will also significantly improve our transportation network. We’re already designing the Phase 1 road improvements, with construction expected to begin in fall 2027.”

As the Business Park develops, transportation and servicing improvements will be delivered in phases. Development Cost Charges (DCCs) generated by new development will help fund these improvements, including the future road network identified in the Area Structure Plan. The District will also continue working with regional and provincial partners on long-term transportation improvements to improve traffic flow and connections along the Glenmore corridor.

Development of the Business Park is expected to occur over time as individual property owners determine how and when to move forward, alongside phased infrastructure and servicing improvements.

The Council report outlining the approved zoning uses is available as part of the August 18 Council agenda package. The future Business Park road network can be viewed in Section 11 of the Lake Country Business Park Area Structure Plan.
