The District of Lake Country is developing a Climate Change Adaptation Plan (CCAP) to help the community prepare for and respond to the impacts of climate change.

With extreme weather events like wildfires, flooding and drought becoming more frequent, it’s important that we plan ahead to protect our community. The CCAP aims to identify current and future climate impacts that may pose risks to local infrastructure, services and overall well-being. It focuses on developing strategies to adapt and respond to these challenges, making sure that our long-term planning and development decisions support a safe and resilient future.

To do this, we need the help of our community. On July 30th, the District of Lake Country launched a survey to gather the community’s thoughts and concerns around climate change. Feedback from residents will help us understand how to better prepare our community for future climate hazards. To date, the survey has been completed by 84 people with many sharing examples of ways their household or neighbourhood has been impacted by climate hazards in Lake Country.

As a practical incentive to complete the survey, the District is doing a random respondent prize draw for all Lake Country residents that participate in the survey. The prize is a Deluxe 2-person, 72 Hour Emergency Kit.

The deadline to complete the survey is August 16, 2025, at 11:59 pm.

This survey is estimated to take 5-10 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain anonymous.
