Water Conservation Update: Modified Stage 2 Restrictions in Effect

Type(s)
District news and public notices

Starting on Monday, May 4th, the District of Lake Country is reinforcing modified Stage 2 water restrictions as we head into spring and increased outdoor water use.

These measures apply to all properties connected to the District of Lake Country water system, regardless of municipal boundaries.

At their peak this season, snowpack levels were about 65% of average, and among the lowest recorded since 2005. Without significant spring precipitation, the local upland reservoirs (Beaver & Oyama Lake) are not expected to fill.

These early measures are intended to reduce water use now and help avoid more restrictive measures later in the summer.

  • Vegetable gardens can be watered more frequently using drip irrigation or other efficient methods. Please keep watering times short (typically under 15 minutes per zone), avoid watering during the heat of the day, and minimize overspray.

What to expect

Restrictions will remain in place and may change depending on weather conditions. If dry conditions continue, additional measures may be required. If conditions improve, restrictions may be eased.

The District is taking an education-first approach at this time and encourages all residents to do their part to conserve water.
