Planning and Development Applications:

Temporary Use Permit | TUP00119 | 11414 Lakewood Road
Council approved a three-year Temporary Use Permit to allow Willow and Pine Childcare to continue operating out of the main floor of the home at 11414 Lakewood Road. The daycare has been serving local families since 2009 and can care for up to eight children, but a permit is needed because the operator does not live on the property and the daycare operates separately from the residential tenants upstairs.

ZoningAmendment | Z0000354 | Lake Country Business Park for 1st & 2nd Reading Report
Council gave two readings to a bylaw that would rezone about 81 hectares (200 acres) in the Lake Country Business Park area and send it to a Public Hearing. The proposed zoning would create new industrial, commercial, residential, park, utility, and conservation areas in line with the Business Park Area Structure Plan.
Council requested a Committee of the Whole meeting be scheduled prior to the public hearing for staff to answer questions raised during the meeting.

Departmental Reports:

Grant-in-Aid Application | GIA2026-003 | BrainTrust Canada
Council approved a Grant-in-Aid contribution to BrainTrust Canada to support its Helmet Safety Program, which provides free safety helmets and brain injury prevention education to children, youth, and families in need. The funding will help purchase approximately 38 MIPS-equipped helmets for Lake Country residents, with distribution supported by local schools, community organizations, the RCMP, and Bylaw Services.

2026 UBCM Community Excellence Award Submission
Council approved staff to apply for the 2026 UBCM Community Excellence Awards recognizing the collaborative North Aberdeen Plateau initiative. The project is a partnership between the District of Lake Country, the Okanagan Indian Band, and the Regional District of North Okanagan that focuses on protecting water resources, improving wildfire resilience, and strengthening long-term watershed health. The initiative combines Indigenous knowledge, scientific expertise, and intergovernmental collaboration to help safeguard this important source water area for future generations.

Bylaws for Adoption and Readings Following a Public Hearing

Zoning Amendment Bylaw |Z0000253| Copper Hill
Council adopted a zoning bylaw amendment for a residential development area that expands opportunities for small-scale multiple housing and updates related development standards. The changes increase the number of housing units permitted on some lots, allow greater site coverage for small-scale housing projects, and reduce certain side and rear yard setback requirements.
