Lake Country, B.C. - Due to hot temperatures, dry conditions and increased wildfire risk, a campfire ban will take effect in Lake Country on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. In alignment with our partners at the BC Wildfire Service and neighbouring communities across the Central Okanagan, the campfire ban will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents and visitors are reminded that campfires are prohibited during the ban. Anyone who lights a campfire may be subject to fines and may be charged for fire department response costs.
To help reduce wildfire risk:
- Properly extinguish all smoking materials.
- Never throw cigarette butts or ashes from vehicles.
- Remember that smoking is prohibited in local parks, trails and beaches.
- Fireworks are banned unless specifically permitted by the local fire department.
- Open burning has been prohibited throughout the Central Okanagan since April 30.
To report illegal burning, call the Regional Fire Dispatch Centre at 250-469-8577.
