The District of Lake Country has again been recognized with an award from the BCMSA: the 2025 Organizational Safety Excellence Award
“It’s inspiring to witness the safety culture established here,” says Elysia Reichert, Manager of Human Resources and Safety for the District of Lake Country. “Sarah’s guidance and commitment to safety set a high standard for our organization and have helped us earn recognition for five consecutive years. This achievement speaks volumes about the daily dedication our staff show to each other’s well-being. Safety is not a one-time accomplishment; it’s a choice we all need to make every single day.”
To receive this award, a municipality must demonstrate an outstanding safety record compared to peer organizations as well as year-over-year continuous improvement.
“Few achievements speak more clearly to an organization’s success than making safety its highest priority. Congratulations to Sarah and the entire District of Lake Country team for their continued commitment to building and maintaining a safe workplace” says Paul Gipps, Chief Administrative Officer.

“Despite earning the Organizational Safety Excellence Award for several consecutive years, the team led by Sarah Goodwin refuses to settle for the status quo” says Trevor James, District of Lake Country Chief Financial Officer. “Every year a significant amount of work is done to continuously improve when it comes to safety at the District. Sarah and the entire team do a phenomenal job of instilling great habits and a safety-first culture” says Trevor James, District of Lake Country Chief Financial Officer.”
“We are incredibly proud to see the District of Lake Country recognized with the Organizational Safety Excellence Award from the BC Municipal Safety Association for the fifth consecutive year,” said Sarah Goodwin, CRSP, Occupational Health & Safety Specialist. “This achievement reflects our team’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and care for our employees and community.”
The award was presented at the BCMSA/PWABC Joint conference held in Whistler, BC October 6-8, 2025.
