Click to Find a Beach, Park, Trail or Public Facility

Enjoy time swimming, boating or relaxing on the beaches of Wood Lake, Okanagan Lake and Kalamalka Lake or get a workout on the many hiking trails in Lake Country.

Experience the heart of Lake Country and stop for a picnic, a game, a concert or a public art show in one of our many parks. Lake Country's public parks are equipped for year-round sports including tennis, baseball, soccer, and beach volleyball.

Learn more about Lake Country Trails and check out the NEW interactive GIS Trail map. There's more than one way to reach to top of Spion Kop and the views are spectacular! Have a look at the Spion Kop trail map.

For a quick reference list of parks and whether they allow dogs on/off-leash, check out the last 2 pages of the Parks & Facilities Bylaw.

Beach Water Quality

Take advantage of all the recreational opportunities in the Okanagan, just be aware of what the risks are. It's no different than experiencing mosquitoes, wasps or ticks in the natural environment.

Lake water is not pristine, and beach water quality can fluctuate due to numerous factors including lake currents, runoff and the outflow of creeks, changing environmental factors and waterfowl and animal waste.  The swimmer's itch parasites are part of the ecosystem. Read more about swimmer's itch and algae blooms.

Water quality is typically poorer in the summer when the warm weather escalates bacterial growth and swimmers stir up the lake bottom. Learn more about beach water quality.

Learn more about algae and participate in sharing your observations.

Extreme Heat

Overheating can be harmful to your health and potentially deadly. Take appropriate precautions to keep yourself cool. Find out more: Extreme Heat.
