Property Taxes due July 4, 2022

Friday, June 10

Property tax notices have been delivered to all District of Lake Country property owners and payments are due by July 4, 2022. Save time and skip the line with these payment options:

ONLINE

Pay online through your financial institution. Our payee name is typically LAKE COUNTRY – PROPERTY TAX but this may vary depending on your bank. Search the payee list for “Lake Country” and find the appropriate name. Your eight-digit folio number is listed on your Property Tax Notice. It must be entered without space or decimals.

Please allow enough time for processing when paying online to ensure you meet the payment deadline.

BY MAIL

Mail your payment and bottom of your tax notice to:

10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road
Lake Country, BC
V4V 2M1

Please ensure that the District receives your payment by the due date. Postmarks will not be considered as date of payment.

DROP BOX

Place your payment and the bottom portion of your Property Tax Notice in the secure drop box located to the right of the north entrance of Lake Country Municipal Hall, 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road, Lake Country.

MORTGAGE

Some mortgage contracts include payment of property taxes. Check with your lender to determine who pays your taxes. If your taxes are paid through your mortgage, you must still claim your Home Owner Grant.

IN PERSON

You can pay your taxes in person during office hours at Municipal Hall, 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road. Please note, credit cards are accepted with an associated fee.

TAX DEFERMENT

Eligible BC residents can apply for the provincial deferment program at www.gov.bc.ca/propertytaxderferment. Property owners are to continue to make outstanding utility payments to the District of Lake Country.

PENALTIES

The due date is Monday, July 4, 2022. A 10% penalty will be charged on unpaid balances after July 4, 2022.

DON’T FORGET YOUR HOME OWNER GRANT

If eligible, you must apply for your Home Owner Grant through the Province of BC. Municipalities do not accept Home Owner Grant Applications. Visit www.gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or phone 1-888-355-2700 to find out if you are eligible or to apply for your grant. To avoid penalties, Home Owner Grants must be received by the Province by the due date. You do not need to make a payment in order to claim your Home Owner Grant.

If you have questions regarding your Property Tax Account or did not receive your notice, please contact 778-738-2741.

BILLING CHANGES COMING

The District is upgrading its financial administration software which has temporarily impacted the ability to access online billing information. Online access is expected to resume in early 2023.

Utility invoices are going to look different beginning July 2022. Up until now, Utilities invoices have only included user fees related to the supply of water. The biggest change property owners will notice is that Garbage, Recycling, and Sewer user fees will now be included on Utility invoices (charges were previously listed on Property Tax Notices).

If you are not a District water customer, but own property in Lake Country, you will begin receiving quarterly Utility invoices beginning July 2022.  Utility invoices for non-District Water customers will include Garbage, Recycling and Sewer user fees (if applicable), prorated over four quarters.
