Visitors to Kaloya and Kopje Regional Parks in Lake Country are invited to have their say at

Now until March 20, 2023, an online survey is available where visitors can share their experiences and comment about pilot projects temporarily allowing dogs in each of the regional parks.

The pilot project allows dogs off-leash in Kopje, and on-leash on trails within Kaloya on a trial basis until the end of March. Dogs are not allowed on the beach or playground areas of either park. The trial provides more dog-friendly access options during the slower off-season months. Dog owners are reminded to follow the regulations in each park and ensure they pick up and dispose of any pet waste using bags and garbage containers that are provided. This will impact any increased access in the future.

In addition to the survey, RDCO Parks Services staff, volunteers and Dog Control officers are engaging with park visitors. Anyone interested in volunteering with the pilot project should contact Parks Services Volunteer in Parks program coordinator or visit the program webpage at

The Regional District offers more than 2,100 hectares of parkland including 86 kilometres of designated trails in 30 regional parks for visitors to explore. Visit to plan your next outing.
