Lake Country, BC They came out in droves to hear live music in the park last week and this Friday’s free Live! In Lake Country concert in Swalwell Park is bound to draw a crowd again with Rann Berry’s 80s Time Machine headlining.

Last Friday, over 2,500 people packed the park and danced and sang the night away, a record number of attendees for the annual summer concert series that has been on a two-year hiatus during the pandemic.

“It was phenomenal, so good to see such a big group of people of all ages,” said Ryan Donn, Cultural Development Coordinator. “There were smiles on everyone’s faces and the performers were so pumped to feel the energy from the crowd.”

This Friday’s concert with Rann Berry features memorable 80s hits. The show features a 6-piece live band that faithfully recreates the hits of artists such as U2, The Police, Simple Minds, Tears For Fears, The Cars, Duran Duran, Wang Chung, AC/DC, The Cult, and more.  Opening for Rann Berry will be the Lake Country School of Dance, an act which had to postpone its 20th anniversary performance in 2020 due to the pandemic. The fun starts at 7 p.m. with the music to keep Swalwell Park hopping until 9 p.m.

Live! in Lake Country performances are presented by TD, TELUS and Okanagan Chrysler Jeep Dodge.

Swalwell Park, located at 10090 Bottom Wood Lake Road, is also host to the Lake Country Farmers and Crafters Market on Fridays, with extended hours to accommodate concert goers.

The Kelly O’Bryan’s food truck and Happy Pineapple Hawaiian Shaved Ice will be on hand. The park also has a Kids Zone which will host fun activities including face painting and henna. Don’t forget to bring, lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Consider carpooling, walking or cycling as onsite parking is limited.
