Okanagan Centre Watermain Replacement Project is nearing completion – watermain tie-ins are scheduled for the end of July with a planned water outage July 28 and 31, 2023

 

The work to upgrade a portion of the water system along Maddock Ave, 4th Street, 5th Street and 6th Street in Okanagan Centre has been progressing well. 

 

Copcan Civil LP will be completing a watermain tie-in which requires a temporary water shutdown on Friday, July 28 and Monday, July 31. During this time, there will be no municipal water supply to all properties highlighted in blue on the maps below (Map A – July 28 water outage / Map B – July 31 water outage 8:00 am-5:00 pm).  Notices were hand-delivered July 26 to affected properties.

 

It is recommended that affected households make any necessary preparations beforehand to ensure water is available for personal use during the outage. Potable water is available free of charge at the Winfield Arena, in the parking lot, for any who wish to fill up personal containers.

 

When the water is reconnected, it is not uncommon for water to be discoloured due to air introduced into the system and some aeration might be present. This is normal. The District recommends running outside taps and bathtub faucets to flush your internal plumbing after water services have been reinstated. Turn a tap on (Ideally outside) and let it run for roughly 10 minutes, or, until these effects are no longer noticeable.
