2022 GENERAL ELECTION and ASSENT VOTING

NOTICE OF ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITIES

Advance Voting Opportunities will be available to qualified electors of the District of Lake Country as follows for the 2022 general election and assent voting.

ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITIES

WHERE:        District of Lake Country Municipal Hall, 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Rd

WHEN:          Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 8 am to 8 pm

AND              Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 8 am to 8 pm

 

VOTING DAY REGISTRATION

There is no need to pre-register. Registration of all electors for the election & referendum will take place at the time of voting. Registration will include signing a Voting Book which contains a declaration of your eligibility to vote.

 

Qualifications for a RESIDENT Elector:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day;
  • You must be a Canadian citizen;
  • You must have lived in British Columbia at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;
  • You must be a resident of the District of Lake Country on the day of registration and to vote in a Neighbourhood Constituency (Ward), live in that jurisdiction on the day of registration; and
  • You must not be disqualified by law or any enactment from voting in an election.

 

Qualifications for a NON-RESIDENT Property Elector (NRPE):

A non-resident property elector owns property in Lake Country but resides elsewhere in BC.

  • You must not be entitled to register as a resident elector;
  • You must be 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day;
  • You must be a Canadian citizen;
  • You must have lived in British Columbia at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;
  • You must be the registered owner of the real property at least 30 days before the day of registration;
  • You must not be disqualified by law or any enactment from voting in an election;
  • If more than one individual is the registered owner, only 1 individual is entitled to vote. Written consent must be provided from a majority of all other owners on the title including the person requesting registration. It is recommended NRPE’s apply register prior to voting day by contacting the Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer at the Municipal Hall. You will be required to produce acceptable identification, proof of ownership of the property and written consent from a majority of the owners stating you are designated as the Elector for that property.

 

I.D. REQUIREMENT
Electors are required to produce 2 pieces of ID, at least one with a signature. Picture ID is not necessary. ID must prove both residency and identity. Documents accepted as ID include:

  • Driver’s Licence;
  • a BC services card;
  • Owner’s Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence issued by ICBC
  • BC CareCard or BC Gold CareCard;
  • Social Insurance Number card;
  • Citizenship Card;
  • property tax notice;
  • credit card or debit card; or
  • utility bill, (such as electricity, natural gas, water, telephone or cable services).
