Lake Country, BC
– As part of its plans for redevelopment of the Glenmore industrial area, the District of Lake Country is undertaking an application to exclude several parcels from the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).

The District is sponsoring the application to the Agricultural Land Commission to remove 7.28 hectares within six parcels of land from the ALR; 9265 Seaton Road, 9130 and 9162 Glenmore Road and three parcels with no civic address fronting Okanagan Centre Road West.

The six parcels are located in the Glenmore industrial area and are within the boundary of the Area Services Plan to be completed by the District in 2023. The plan is the beginning of the redevelopment of the Glenmore Industrial lands and removal of the ALR designation is required prior to the redevelopment.

The ALR is BC’s provincial zone that preserves agricultural land for the future. The ALC is the administrative tribunal that adjudicates applications in the ALR while prioritizing and protecting the ALR land base and its use for agriculture. Portions of the six parcels in the District’s exclusion application are within this zone but are not currently used for agricultural purposes. Although led by the District, the private owners of these parcels are in agreement with the request to remove the ALR designation.

The Agricultural Land Commission will make the final decision, but Council is holding a public hearing to get input as part of the application. Interested parties are invited to attend and provide input:
