The second annual Lake Country Indoor Children's Festival presented by TD Bank is being hosted at the Lake Country Community Complex on Saturday, February 25th from 11am to 3pm. With over 40 children's activities a Global Children's Village including multi-cultural activities, Telus PureFibre Science Zone, face painting, caricatures, London Drugs Canada150 booth, Bouncy Castle City, live entertainment and games, to name a few there will be something for everyone in the family.

"Since our community is growing so rapidly, it is important that we have activities and events that meet the needs of residents," says Mayor James Baker. "The Children's Festival was a big success last year and I can only see that growing as more families move to Lake Country for the lifestyle available in this community."

"Families from Lake Country and neighbouring Kelowna and Vernon had a great time at the event last year and we've expanded the event for 2017," says Cultural Development Coordinator Ryan Donn. "Having TD Bank as the title sponsor is a really good fit because they have a very community-minded approach to business and a local presence on Lake Country's Main Street; and with sponsors on board like Telus PureFibre, Castanet, London Drugs, and Canadian Heritage we are able to enhance all the offerings for everyone in the family."

Again, the whole community is getting involved: the Lake Country firefighters are providing a Combat Challenge, the Lake Country Museum is doing a historical photo booth and a feature of the event for the older youth is the Teen Vocal Competition in the Creekside Theatre.

"Everyone is invited to travel the world through games, crafts and activities in the Global Children's Village," says Joyce Brinkerhof, Global Citizens Kelowna. "Do the limbo, hit a piata, play hockey, and in celebration of Canada150 families can even pin the spots on a world map to show where their family was 150 years ago."

Admission to the Children's Festival is by donation with all donations going towards sustaining the event.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 25th and bring the whole family.
