The Lake Country Fire Department annual Food Bank campaign starts this Sunday! They will be visiting neighbourhoods throughout Lake Country to pick up any non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. Below is their schedule to help you keep a look out:
  • Sunday, Dec 3 - Carr's Landing area starting from 11am - 5pm.
  • Tuesday, Dec 5 - Oyama, Winfield & Okanagan Centre starting at 6pm
  • Saturday, Dec 9 - Station 71 (Winfield) will have a drive through donation drop off from 10am - 1pm. Come down and enjoy a hot chocolate with the firefighters!

The team plans to visit the following neighbourhoods in Winfield/Okanagan Centre:

-The Lakes
-Northview and Heritage subdivisions
-Lake Stone
-Mountview, Winview and Kelvern subdivisions
-SageGlenn and Monte Bella areas
-Pretty, Eva and Middleton subdivisions
-Jackson Court, Lacresta and Artella subdivisions
-Benchlands and Beacon Hill
-Nighthawk (Tyndall Estates) and Hallam Rd areas
-Okanagan Centre Rd West within Maddock Ave areas
-Seymour Rd, Clement Rd, Remiche Rd, etc (Woodsdale Rd areas)
Watch for the fire trucks with flashing lights in your neighbourhood and bring the kids out to see the truck or wave hello to the crew.  While the crew will make every effort to visit as many streets as possible, it's hard for them to get everywhere. If you don't see them, consider visiting the fire station on Dec 9th!
Wondering how and what items to donate?
  •  Non-perishable food, personal care products and gift cards. If you're not home, these can be left out in a bag on your doorstep identified as "LCFD Food Bank campaign" (leave your porch lights on).

Cash donations are immensely appreciated! Your financial donation provides you with a tax receipt immediately sent to your email inbox (no minimum contribution or deadline). It allows the Food Bank to leverage your monetary donation through their wholesale buying power to purchase the items most needed by those experiencing food insecurity in our community. 100% of the funds donated go directly to the Lake Country Food Bank.
Keep an eye out for the trucks in your area, starting this Sunday!
