LIVE! in Lake Country presented by TD is excited to welcome the Jill Barber Duo and Kailee Duggan Trio rounding out week three of FREE Friday night concerts in Swalwell Park on July 19th, 2024.

Showcasing two artists and their bandmates, Kailee Duggan Trio will open the evening with their captivating combination of lyrics and tunes, followed by the jazz/folk vocals of the Jill Barber Duo.

Kailee Duggan, local Kelowna resident, has been performing for years as an opening act for artists like Dan Mangan, Bahamas and Andrew Allen. Known for her captivating melodies that blend poignant lyrics with catchy hooks, listeners will be compelled to tap their feet to even the most melancholic tunes.

Influenced by Norah Jones, The Beatles and Bahamas, Kailee has cultivated a smooth and soulful folky/pop sound that is uniquely her own.

Earlier this year Kailee showcased her unmistakable talent and magnetic stage presence at the Dream Café in Penticton with D’Arcy Booth and Dylan Ranney to round out the trio, and impressed audiences at Kelowna’s winter music festival: Fireside.

Together with multi-instrumentalist D’Arcy Booth and fellow trio member, Kailee is currently in the studio with accomplished producer and musician Andrew Judah, with an album set to be released later this year.

“Music and art is an opportunity to connect and feel all the things that make us human and also all the things we can’t explain,” says Kailee.

Equipped with musical talent, humour, and passion, the Kailee Duggan Trio will set the tone for Friday night in the park.

Ending the night on a high note will be critically acclaimed Jill Barber, three-time Juno Award nominated singer-songwriter. Her expansive repertoire includes folk, vocal jazz, and pop pieces in both English and French-her music transcending language barriers.

Known for an unmistakable, unique voice, Barber is a charming performer with impeccable instincts and a wide range. Successful in both the anglophone and francophone markets, to date Barber’s biggest success has been her debut francophone album Chansons, surpassing 25,000 albums sold worldwide and reaching in excess of 120 million streams.

“For me, singing in French is an embodied, sensual experience… it’s a new language in which to explore and express myself artistically- and be vulnerable,” Barber shared. More than a decade ago, inspired by the audience response of singing a few bars in French at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Barber enrolled in an immersive school in the south of France. At the end of her time there, she emerged with recordings of songs and poetry that inspired her the most and began her journey of recording and writing in French.

Barber’s latest album ENCORE! is a response to her debut album Chansons. "ENCORE!" is a delightfully arranged and lushly orchestrated album, featuring all new interpretations of classic songs by Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet, Blossom Dearie and more.

Whether it be in English or French, Barber is a captivating songstress, perfect for a summer night concert.

Be sure to come out for an enjoyable evening of vocal talent and entertainment.
