NOTICE OF NOMINATION - DISTRICT OF LAKE COUNTRY COUNCIL
Public Notice is hereby given that nominations for the 2022-2026 term of office for:
One (1) Mayor to be elected at large
Two (2) Councillors to be elected at large
One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Carr’s Landing
One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Okanagan Centre
One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Oyama
One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Winfield
will be received by the Chief Election Officer or designated person:

Nomination packages will be accepted between at 9 am, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 and 4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022. Nominations will NOT be accepted after 4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022.
Originals of faxed or emailed documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4:00 pm on Friday, September 16, 2022.
Nomination Packages will be available beginning August 1, 2022 at the District of Lake Country Municipal Hall or available online at www.lakecountry.bc.ca/elections.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE
To qualify to be nominated, elected and to hold office as a member of local government, a person must be:
- 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day (October 15);
- a Canadian citizen;
- a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
- not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in BC or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.
Mayor and Candidates-at-large must be nominated in writing by two (2) persons who are qualified electors of the District of Lake Country.
Neighbourhood constituency candidates must be nominated in writing by two (2) persons who are qualified electors of the neighbourhood constituency area in question.
CAMPAIGN PERIOD EXPENSE LIMITS & THIRD-PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS
In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act the 2022 General Local Election Campaign Period is September 17 to October 15.

A $100 deposit, in the form of a cheque written to School District 23, is required.

REFERENDUM INFORMATION
NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR SCRUTINEERS
WATERFRONT PROPERTY ACQUISITION (ASSENT VOTING)
On Saturday, October 15, 2022, qualified electors within the District of Lake Country will be voting on the following question:
"Are you in favour of the District of Lake Country authorizing Loan Authorization (Waterfront Property) Bylaw 1187, 2022 to authorize the borrowing of up to $8,000,000 to purchase waterfront property for community use?”
Persons entitled to vote as electors in the assent voting may apply to volunteer as a Scrutineer for the assent voting. There will be no remuneration. If applications are received, Scrutineers for and against the question must be appointed.
If sufficient applications are received, one (1) scrutineer for and one (1) against the question will be appointed for each voting place. One scrutineer for and one against the question will also be appointed to be present at the determination of the official results and, if necessary, at a judicial recount.
Applications to act as a scrutineer for assent voting will be received by the Chief Election Officer at the District of Lake Country, Municipal Hall, 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road, Lake Country, BC from 9 am, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 to 4 pm, Friday, September 9, 2022 during regular office hours.
