Effective 8:00 a.m. May 15, 2023 the 70% axle weight load restrictions on Lake Country roads have been removed.

Seasonal load restrictions are put into place to protect our roads from damage or failure during the spring when the winter’s frost is thawing and the snow melt and rain have saturated the road base material. Damage done to roads is usually deeper than just on the surface and can end up costing hundreds of thousands, or potentially millions, of dollars to repair.

Provincial load restrictions are updated as new information becomes available. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has posted a notice that load restrictions on area highways will be rescinded May 19, 2023. All road restrictions across the province are on DriveBC.ca via the seasonal load restrictions tab. Drivers can even subscribe to receive alerts pertaining to their routes.
