Those interested in running for mayor, councillor at large, councillor for neighbourhood constituency (ward) or school trustee in the upcoming 2022 Lake Country General Local Election have until 4 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022 to submit their nomination papers. 

If you are interested in running for office in Lake Country, but have not picked up a nomination package yet, they are still available for pick-up at Municipal Hall (10150 Bottom Wood Lake Rd.) or for download on the District website at lakecountry.bc.ca/elections.


The Chief Election Officer recommends calling 250-766-5650 to make an appointment to review the documents prior to submission, which is done in person at Municipal Hall (10150 Bottom Wood Lake Rd.)  

Nominations are for the offices of:

  • One (1) Mayor to be elected at large
  • Two (2) Councillors to be elected at large
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Carr’s Landing
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Okanagan Centre
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Oyama 
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Winfield 

Nominations can be filed in person at the Municipal Hall or via email at admin@lakecountry.bc.ca by 4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022. 

Nominators must be eligible voters who either live in, or own a property in, Lake Country. 

Mayor and Candidates-at-large must be nominated in writing by 2 persons who are qualified electors of the District of Lake Country. 

Neighbourhood constituency candidates must be nominated in writing by 2 persons who are qualified electors of the neighbourhood constituency (ward) area. 

To qualify to be nominated and elected to hold office, a person must be:

  • Age 18 or older on General Voting Day (October 15);
  • A Canadian citizen;
  • A resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
  • Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in BC or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.



Eligible voters in Lake Country will head to the polls on October 15 if they haven’t already attended one of the advance polling opportunities October 5 or 11, 2022.
