The 2022 Local General Election is Saturday, October 15, 2022. 
If you are thinking of running for Council, please review the following information. 

Nomination Packages

Nomination Packages for the District of Lake Country 2022-2026 term of office are available to pick up in person beginning August 1, 2022 at the Municipal Hall or available from the links below.

 

Nominations are for the offices of:

  • One (1) Mayor to be elected at large
  • Two (2) Councillors to be elected at large
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Carr’s Landing
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Okanagan Centre
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Oyama 
  • One (1) Neighbourhood Constituency Councillor for Winfield

 

Nomination documents can be filed between at 9 am, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 and 4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022. Nominations will NOT be accepted after 4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022. Nominations can be filed in person at the Municipal Hall or via email at admin@lakecountry.bc.ca. Originals of emailed documents must be received by by 4 pm Friday, September 16, 2022.

Mayor and Candidates-at-large must be nominated in writing by 2 persons who are qualified electors of the District of Lake Country.

 

Neighbourhood constituency candidates must be nominated in writing by 2 persons who are qualified electors of the neighbourhood constituency area.

 

To qualify to be nominated and elected to hold office, a person must be:

  • Age 18 or older on General Voting Day (October 15);
  • A Canadian citizen;
  • A resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
  • Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in BC or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

School District (SD) No. 23 (Central Okanagan) School Trustee Candidate - Zone I

Nominations will be accepted for 1 School Trustee for Zone I of SD No. 23 to be elected for a 4-year term, November 2022 to November 2026. Candidates must be nominated in writing by two persons who are qualified electors of School District Zone I.

 

Nomination papers for qualified candidates will be received at:

  • the Regional District of Central Okanagan, 1450 KLO Road, Kelowna, BC by Karen Needham, Chief Election Officer (CEO) or person(s) designated by the CEO OR
  • the District of Lake Country, 10150 Bottom Wood Lake Road, Lake Country, BC by Reyna Seabrook, CEO or a person(s) designated by the CEO.

 

Nomination packages will be accepted between at 9 am, Tuesday, August 30, 2022 and 4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022. Nominations will NOT be accepted after 4 pm Friday, September 9, 2022.

 

A deposit of $100 is required with the application which can be paid to the location where papers are filed.

Campaign expense limits 

Campaign expense limits have been set by Elections BC.  In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 General Local Election, the following Candidate Expense Limits for the campaign period of September 17 to October 15, 2022 apply:

  • Mayor: $16,930.42
  • Councillors - At Large: $8,471.40
  • Councillors - Neighbourhood Constituencies: $5,398.92
  • School Trustee Zone I: $9,698.70

The third-party advertising limit for the 2022 General Local Election and School Trustee is $809.84.
