Every year Lake Country joins the rest of BC in promoting Bike to Work/School Week. Whether you are a serious commuter cyclist or a new cyclist, you will benefit from the Central Okanagan-specific information available on the smartTRIPS website.

Download the Bicycle Operators Safety Manual from BikeSense and make sure you know the rules of the road before setting out.

Motorists and Cyclists - learn more about what to watch for when sharing the road and your role in sharing the road safely.

Transportation for Tomorrow

The District of Lake Country's Active Transportation Vision is "Getting around Lake Country in safe and enjoyable ways" and is linked to the overall transportation goals in the Official Community Plan (OCP):

  • Create a multi-modal transportation network to provide a range of transportation options;
  • Provide a safe and efficient transportation network;
  • Minimize the environmental impact of the transportation network; and
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the District transportation network.

In order for the Active Transportation vision and the OCP transportation goals to succeed they must be considered in context of the overall management of the District's roadway network. Find out more about the Transportation for Tomorrow plan.
