A warm farewell to CAO Tanya Garost

Tanya Garost, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the District of Lake Country, has informed Council of her resignation effective August 31, 2023. Tanya will be relocating to Saskatchewan and will begin her new role with the City of Martensville in September.

“We are grateful to Tanya for her exceptional leadership at the District of Lake Country” says Mayor Blair Ireland. “We wish her all the best in her new role as City Manager with the City of Martensville, Saskatchewan.”

Okanagan Centre Watermain Replacement Project is nearing completion – watermain tie-ins are scheduled for the end of July with a planned water outage July 28 and 31, 2023

Lake CounTree program returns

Lake Country residents can purchase a tree at a reduced cost of $50.00 beginning Tuesday July 25th. The Lake Countree purchase program is supported by the District of Lake Country and is meant to encourage community members to increase and maintain the community urban forest canopy. 2023 is the second year for the program and by purchasing and planting a tree, you will be making a positive impact on the environment.

Public Comment:

  • Mr. Green presented to Council on concerns with permit applications and wait times.
  • Ms. Kozub asked Council to assist in preserving the historical building located at 11570 Bottom Wood Lake Road.
  • Ms. Cissell-Dana addressed Council regarding the safety issues on highway 97 at Crystal Waters Road and Rawsthorne Road.

Development Variance:

Council approved a request to vary the shape of a dock from an L or T-shaped to an F shape, at 17030 Coral Beach Road.
