Water quality protection prioritized in Lake Country's study of White Rock Lake fire

Lake Country, BCGrant from Okanagan Basin Water Board helps Lake Country study water quality risks from the White Rock Lake fire in the north arm of Okanagan Lake.

 

During 2022, the District of Lake Country (DLC) used a $30,000 grant from Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) to study the effects of the 2021 White Rock Lake wildfire on source waters, in partnership with Larratt Aquatic Consultants (LAC).

Wildfire Risk Reduction work continues on Spion Kop

Hikers, Spion Kop trail users, and residents in Raven Ridge and The Lakes area may notice Ministry of Forests contractor crews working on Spion Kop January to March doing some machine and hand thinning, pruning, surface debris clean up, piling and burning of debris, in an effort to reduce the wildfire risk in Lake Country.
