Alternative Approval Process Results for Okanagan Rail Corridor

On Tuesday afternoon, District of Lake Country Council will review the outcome of the alternative approval process (AAP) for borrowing up to $2.6 million to fund the 50 per cent purchase of the discontinued CN rail line within Lake Country's jurisdiction.

The alternative approval process concluded at 12 p.m. Monday and results were validated by the District Corporate Officer.

The following information is being provided to help residents make an informed decision in the Okanagan Rail Corridor Alternative Approval Process.

If the Alternative Approval Process to borrow up to $2.6 million to acquire approximately 16 km of discontinued CN Rail corridor within Lake Country boundaries is successful, the average residential property valued at $475,000 may see a property tax increase of approximately $27 per year over a 20 year period, which is about $2.25 per household per month.
