Oyama Road OPEN to through traffic

4:45pm Update: Crews worked hard Friday to clear debris from a rock slide that occurred Thursday evening on MP Hill along Oyama Road between Willett Rd and Hebbert Rd. Oyama. Oyama Road is now OPEN to through traffic.

Thank you to everyone for patience during this inconvenience to your travel schedule/commute on Friday. Public safety was the primary concern while fallen rock was cleaned up and the hillside stability assessed.

Oyama Road CLOSED (Willett Rd to Hebbert Rd) until further notice

8:00am Friday, February 6 UPDATE: Oyama Road between Willett Rd and Hebbert Rd will remain CLOSED this morning and NO SCHOOL BUSES will be allowed through the rock slide area.

Motorists are asked to please reroute via Pelmewash Parkway and Oyama Rd around the north end of Wood Lake to access any properties north of Hebbert Rd.

7:00pm Thursday, February 5,2015 a small section of Oyama Rd between Willett Rd and Hebbert Rd has been closed due to unstable rock face.

For public safety during rock scaling work, Oyama Road between Willett Road and Hebbert Road will be CLOSED to through traffic from 8 am-3:30 pm on Tuesday, February 10th.

Scheduled school bus trips will be allowed through the work zone with some anticipated delay. All other traffic will be requested to reroute. Please plan your route and schedule accordingly.

2015 Budget approved with 3.13 percent tax increase

After Council's third session of deliberation, Lake Country's 2015 Operating and Capital Budget will result in a 3.13 percent tax increase, which equates to approximately $50.66 on an average single-family home assessed at $492,000; and includes consideration of 2015 debt servicing for CN Rail Corridor acquisition.

Each 1% tax increase raises $97,854. The BC Assessment completed roll figures show that the 2015 tax base increased by 2.1% or $203,000.
