The District of Lake Country has announced the details of the upcoming referendum and launched a referendum webpage, complete with links to social media sites.
"With more and more residents turning to the internet for their news, social media is a great way to stay up-to-date or engage with the process" says Deputy Chief Election Officer Willene Perez. Recently released figures from the Province have confirmed that Lake Country is officially the fastest-growing municipality in British Columbia, with the rapidly-evolving Okanagan community growing a whopping 5.6 percent between 2013 and 2014. Okanagan Rail Corridor borrowing goes to referendum

Mayor and Council initiated a referendum on Tuesday, March 3rd for approval to borrow up to $2,615,000 to fund the purchase of a 50 per cent share of the 16 kilometres of the Okanagan Rail Corridor within the District boundaries.
"It is critical for all residents to come out to vote, to ensure they have their say in shaping our community's future and to be informed in making that decision," said Mayor James Baker.

Former councillor Jamie McEwan, BA, MA, was awarded the position after a thorough recruitment process.
