The Bond Road watermain upgrade project scheduled for the summer of 2015 has started.
Residents will have noticed some construction signage in the neighbourhood, and individual property owners/residents will be advised when the works will affect their property directly. The contractor, Colmar Construction, is onsite Monday, July 6 to begin installing drywells for drainage improvements on Bond Road from Davidson to La Cresta. Lake Country was acknowledged as a sustainability leader by the Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC) at their annual Awards for Excellence in Planning and Individual Achievement banquet held in Vancouver on June 18, 2015. Campfire ban in effect noon Friday, July 3

Starting this Friday, all campfires will be prohibited throughout all Central Okanagan municipalities. That's the earliest in recent memory and a week and a half earlier than last year (July 14th).
The ban takes effect at noon Friday, July 3rd and coincides with the similar action announced by the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations across the Kamloops Fire Centre area within BC Parks, Crown and private lands. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Lake Country to receive funding to update agricultural water meters

Project approved under Canada's Small Communities Fund
Residents of Winfield, Carr's Landing and Okanagan Centre will benefit from updated water meters thanks to joint funding from the governments of Canada and British Columbia through the Small Communities Fund.
The backflow prevention devices on agricultural connections being installed in these Lake Country communities will help protect the water system from contamination. This project requires updating approximately 200 water meters with new ones....
Emergency Support Services Celebrates Volunteers

A core group of dedicated volunteers are always ready to answer the call when anyone in the Central Okanagan needs help because they've been displaced by an emergency.
Members of the Central Okanagan Emergency Support Services organization, more often known by the acronym E-S-S, gathered last evening to recognize the service milestones of some of their volunteers.
This year, 21 ESS members provided a combined 125 years of service through the volunteer organization.
