At their September 6, 2016 meeting, Mayor and Council adopted a new Development Cost Charge Bylaw.
Development Cost Charges (DCCs) are usedto finance the costs to provide road, drainage, water and sewer services for the projected growth in population. DCCs are funds that are collected from land developers, by a municipality, to ensure that development pays its fair share. Expansion and development often lead directly to an increase in the demand for sewer, water, drainage, parks and roads.

Campfire Ban ends Sept 2 in Central Okanagan

Effective noon today, the ban on campfires will be lifted in most Central Okanagan areas. Campfires are not permitted at any time within the City of Kelowna.
The ban on campfires within local government fire jurisdictions in the Central Okanagan has been in place since August 19th. Forecast showers and cooler temperatures are expected to reduce the potential fire threat.

Moratorium on moorage buoys still in effect

Lake Country is working on a "seasonal moorage" program.
The September 15, 2015 moratorium prohibiting the installation of any more buoys is still in effect until regulations setting out a moorage buoys program are approved by Council.
Bylaw Enforcement is issuing tickets for any boats moored illegally for longer than 24 hours on any moorage buoys that have been placed in the lakes after the 2015 moratorium.
