As the flooding emergency in the Central Okanagan approaches the one-month mark, officials are urging the public to be alert to a variety of health and safety hazards caused by high water levels.Since someone cut through the temporary fencing put in place to make it obvious that Pioneer Park was CLOSED, Moduloc fencing and signage were installed May 30th to reinforce the following:- Parents are asked to keep children out of dirty shallow water to prevent any health risks posed by standing water.-...

Lake Country back to regular irrigation schedule

Agricultural irrigation is back in operation. Residential irrigation is back to status quo with odd/even watering schedules that are the norm at this time of year.

As a result of flooding and impacts to the water intake infrastructure, on May 8th the District of Lake Country issued an Urgent Water Notice advising that citizens should restrict their water use to domestic use only with no outdoor irrigation. Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour regional boat launch now CLOSED

As Okanagan Lake continues to rise, the Regional District has now closed its final two boat launches.Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour Regional Park on Okanagan Centre Road West in Lake Country is closed as it is no longer safe to use the launch and dock infrastructure.� The protected harbor is open for boaters that may need to seek shelter from high winds and inclement weather.�As well, the small boat launch and dock located at Fintry Community Park Access #1 at the end of Fintry Delta Road is now closed...

Nomination packages filed for Carr's Landing and Oyama wards

Lake Country is holding a By-election June 24th for the Council member seat in the Carr's Landing Ward. The Oyama Council member seat will be acclaimed with only one candidate filing nomination papers by the 4:00pm, Friday, May 19th deadline.
