Spring Open Burning ends April 30th

Eligible property owners with permits have until dusk Saturday, April 30th to wrap up any open burning in the Central Okanagan.

Under Regional District and local fire bylaws, if conditions are favourable, permitted open burning starts October 1st and must be complete by nightfall April 30th. Fire chiefs may however change the dates depending on the fire hazard in their specific area.

Until April 30th, those Central Okanagan residents with properties greater than one hectare will be allowed to burn...

The District of Lake Country in conjunction with Interior Health has issued a BOIL WATER NOTICE for customers affected by the water main break that occurred at the corner of Pretty and Oceola Roads on April 21, 2016. A map highlighting the affected customers is attached.

Spring runoff safety and flood precautions

Creeks throughout the Central Okanagan are on the rise thanks to the sunshine and high daytime temperatures. While the low and mid-elevation snowpack has pretty much melted the higher than normal upper elevation snow levels are starting their descent.

At the present time there are no areas of concern, however if the warm weather is combined with heavy rains, the risk of above average creek levels and potential flooding could rise.

District of Lake Country and Shaw Communications Partner to Offer Free Public WiFi

Lake Country will soon enjoy free public WiFi thanks to an agreement between the District of Lake Country and Shaw Communications Inc. This partnership will give Lake Country residents and visitors free Shaw Go WiFi guest access, as well as complimentary access to Shaw subscribers. WiFi access points will be installed throughout the community in the coming months, including the Town Centre, Municipal Hall, and public parks.
