Historic collaboration paves way to enhanced services

The Okanagan Indian Band, District of Lake Country and City of Kelowna today announced agreement on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will pave the way toward building important health, safety and infrastructure improvements, including completion of the Okanagan Rail Trail.

Staff discussions among the three neighbours over many months have resulted in an agreement to move toward resolving infrastructure needs.  Some preliminary work...

Delegation:

Patrick Vance, Chair of the Okanagan IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s gave Council an update on the planned event taking place on May 29th in Vernon. Mr. Vance asked that Council support the walk by either attending or pledging their support on-line.  

Temporary Use Permit:

Council approved a temporary use permit for an autobody repair and paint shop located at 15151 Oyama Road. The permit allows the business to operate at that location until February 5, 2025.  

Oyama Boil Water Notice Downgraded

The District of Lake Country in conjunction with Interior Health has LIFTED the BOIL WATER NOTICE from the May 10th water system outage effective immediately. The Boil Water Notice has been downgraded to a Water Quality Advisory

Recent testing and monitoring has shown no bacteria are present within the distribution network and disinfection (chlorine) levels are normal.

Tax Rates Bylaw 1185, 2022:

Council adopted the tax multipliers for 2022 property tax. The tax multiplier for Class 6 will remain consistent with the 2021 ratio.  

2021 Financial Statements

Council approved the 2021 Financial Statements after Mario Piroddi of BDO - presented to Council on the findings from the external audit.

Central Okanagan residents have a role in reducing potential wildlife conflicts.

 

The Regional Waste Reduction Office encourages residents to keep neighbourhoods safe by managing anything that attracts bears and other wildlife around your home, including your household garbage.
